Privacy & offline use
LocuText checks Chinese and English text in your browser. Local proofreading engines process the text you paste or import. The proofreading code does not send your draft to cloud AI, the hosting platform, or model download services.

Drafts and settings
Your current draft, imported original, review decisions, and undo history remain in this page’s memory and are not saved automatically. Copy your text or export a TXT file before closing the page. The editor disables built-in browser spellcheck.
Apart from the app and model caches described below, the app saves only your interface language preference, not drafts, IP addresses, or country information. Automatic mode uses Chinese at the main entry and English at the English entry; your manual choice takes priority. No IP lookup or country hint is requested. An automatic language setting saved by an older version may remain in your browser, but no longer determines the default language of these two entries.
Downloads and local cache
The first visit downloads the app and engine dependencies, including quick-check files and AI framework code. These files may be cached in this browser. Model weights and model-specific runtime files download only when you choose to prepare that model. Model files may come from Hugging Face, ModelScope, and their file delivery services. Those services see ordinary connection information, but the proofreading code does not send them your draft.
The app lets you inspect and clear its caches. Clearing site data in your browser also removes the corresponding local files, and the browser may evict ordinary caches. Clearing local caches does not erase access data already recorded by the hosting provider.
Hosting and performance data
Alibaba Cloud ESA hosts the site. It may record connection and page performance data and may add monitoring scripts to pages. The current app page’s content security policy blocks unapproved third-party scripts from running; actual hosting behavior should be checked after each release. We do not promise that telemetry or advertising is completely absent.
Offline use
Once the app and quick-check files are ready, you can reopen the same URL in the same browser offline. Local AI also requires you to download and cache the complete selected model and runtime in advance. If WebGPU is unavailable, quick check remains available; proofreading does not automatically switch to a cloud service.
Practical next steps
Follow the offline preparation steps before disconnecting. If you need to know what survives closing the page, read whether drafts are saved; for missing files, see why a cache can become incomplete.
